CARTMAN’s Legacy
Prof. N. S. Ramaswamy, Founder-Director of IIM Bangalore, Padma Bhushan Awardee, and Chairman of the Animal Welfare Board of India, dedicated his life to the betterment of both animals and rural communities. His passion and commitment are the foundation upon which CARTMAN stands today.
From modernizing bullock carts to introducing
humane practices in abattoirs, his innovative ideas not only brought significant economic benefits but were driven by a deep compassion for animals.
His legacy lives on through CARTMAN’s ongoing efforts to provide compassionate care and support.
Our Current Focus
Today, CARTMAN focuses on two main areas of activity.
Animal Welfare
Compassionate Care for Every Animal

We care for stray animals that are hurt, maimed, or injured. After rehabilitation, which may include surgery and kenneling for many weeks, we return them to their original locations.

We provide free or subsidised treatment to pets of economically weaker sections of society.

Since February 2019, we have launched ABC (Animal Birth Control) and ARV (Anti Rabies Vaccine) programs to control the stray dog population in Bangalore, in collaboration with animal activists and animal lovers.

Supporting the Children of Migrant Laborers

We provide a creche and care service aimed at children of migrant construction laborers, ensuring a safe and clean environment for them.

Children are provided with nutritious meals to support their growth and well-being.

We teach children aged 2 to 10 basic subjects like English, Kannada, Hindi, nursery rhymes, and arithmetic, helping them build a strong educational foundation.

He graduated with honors, earning a gold medal in his veterinary degree from KVAFSU, Bangalore, and has worked in various capacities, at institutions such as CGS Pet Hospital and Brooke Hospital for Animals.
Known for his dedication and strong determination, he brings valuable expertise and a compassionate approach to veterinary care.
